131 words · ~1 min readThis is a small but mighty book that helped me finally get up to speed on the ongoing conflict in Israel and Palestine. I’ve always been interested in the origins of how things arrived at the state they are today, and Professor Walid covers exactly that. He traces the entire history of the conflict, the specific ties Singapore has with Israel, and why it is so vital for Singaporeans to stay informed.
I went into this hoping it wouldn’t be weighed down by political leanings. While I acknowledge that total neutrality is impossible, this book stays focused on objective impacts and why we as Singaporeans need to care. No more shoulder-shrugging or staying politically ignorant. When humans are involved, everything is political.
